Lasik and other types of Laser Vision Correction Procedures

There are different types of laser vision correction procedures to correct different types of refractive errors and eye problems that people suffer from, at some stage of life. Some suffer from eye problems because of their past family history, or by birth and some suffer from it due to certain medical health conditions or due to type of work and improper care of eyes. Whatever the reason may be, refractive errors can be treated using laser based treatments. LASIK is the most common and most performed laser vision correction procedure. All the laser procedures are performed by highly expert eye surgeons. Well, it depends and varies from patients to patients that if LASIK is the only option and may not be the right vision correction procedure for them. A patient can only undergo any such procedure if he/she is a good candidate for the procedure. And this is examined, evaluated and suggested by expert eye-surgeons only after conducting proper tests and examinations and after consultation session.

Other types of laser vision correction procedures are; Laser Epithelial Keratomileusis also known as LASEK. This procedure is performed for people who previously turned down for LASIK because of thin or unusually shaped corneas. Another type is Monovision. Now this type of procedure is for people who are growing older and wish to leave one eye slightly nearsighted.And, while the other eye is fully treated for distance vision!

Another type of laser procedures for eye problems is Photorefractive Keratectomy. It is also known as PRK in short. This procedure is for people with larger pupils, thin corneas, other corneal issues, or dry eyes. Laser procedure of CK also known as Conductive Keratoplasty is performed by expert surgeons for patients who are growing older and are seeking improved near vision that allow them to depend less on reading glasses. After conducting all necessary eye- tests, examinations of patient, all the reports are evaluated and then the doctor will help determine which vision correction procedure is right for the patient.
